A Beautiful Story of Baby Joseph

Baby Joseph was born in or around the mid 2000s and why no one can trace his actual birthdate/place is that he was born and left by a police station either to be picked or worse of die. No one knows his parents, his age, tribe and because baby joseph has severe cerebral palsy the chance to ever know him are near impossible. He neither speaks nor walks neither will he ever be able to express himself. Unfortunately, over the years no one has ever claimed him and now in his 20s the situation remains so.

As destiny would have it, baby Joseph was taken to hospital and for a long time the institution sorts out for well-wishers who would give him a home. Faith and Hope ministries and NGO that takes care of orphaned children with diverse disabilities heard about the boy and not only picked him up but gave him a home where he still lives now close to 20 years.

In 2009, the founder of Dorcas Society was introduced to the Faith and Hope ministries and on visiting the humble home the beautiful smile of Baby Joseph sitting on a small Cerebral palsy sit pierced through her heart. This was the beginning of a journey between Dorcas and Joseph and this relationship embodies what Dorcas Society is all about.

The mission of Dorcas Society therefore is to offer an extended hand/ outstretched hand of help and hope to the underprivileged in the society with a strong bias to the young children. While in the yester years/ older days the moral fabric of the society could under guard the poor and the underprivileged in the society, the modern day person will more less look inward than outward and the mantra that says each man for himself and God for us all doesn’t become more applicable and more so for children with disability.

Dorcas society honours the many institutions and persons who have gone out of their way to carry on such support as Faith and Hope Ministry and prays for God’s continued provision over them.

Recently M/s Dorcas Society was able to reconnect with baby joseph -now a young Gen z and together with M/s Bethany Kids were able to provide Joseph a state- of -the -art cerebral palsy sit. Such are the hopeful stories Dorcas Society is made up of.
